BioNTech’s CEO says tests being run on mutant strain; US could require negative Covid-19 tests for passengers from Britain

More than 84,000 deaths involving Covid-19 have now occurred in the UK, new figures show.

A total of 81,416 deaths have so far been registered in the UK where Covid-19 was mentioned on the death certificate, according to the latest reports from the UK’s statistics agencies.

Uğur Şahin told a press conference that his team had been working on trying to find out whether the company’s vaccine works on the UK variant, to establish whether it was even necessary to adapt the vaccine. Results would be known within two weeks, he said.”
