Almazbek Atambayev surrended to police last week after deadly clash during raid
Prosecutors have charged Kyrgyzstan’s former president Almazbek Atambayev with murder and causing mass unrest after a deadly clash last week with security forces who were seeking to arrest him.
Atambayev surrendered to police on Thursday when they raided his house and took him in for questioning over a corruption case. His supporters had repulsed a similar raid the previous day in which one security officer was killed.
