Tongan PM Sovaleni and Australian PM Albanese give details of Pacific police training plan – video

The Tongan prime minister, Hu’akavemeiliku Siaosi Sovaleni, and the Australian prime minister, Anthony Albanese, spoke at the Pacific Islands Forum in Nuku’alofa, Tonga, after Pacific island leaders agreed to back a regional policing plan that will see the establishment of police training centres of excellence. Australia overcame last-minute concerns that the plan, described as ‘a Pacific-led initiative’ by Albanese, was part of a geopolitical play to exclude China. ‘This is something that has arisen from the Pacific family, to look after the Pacific family,’ Albanese said
