Australia has dismissed “outbursts” from China over its decision to develop nuclear-powered submarines and flagged plans for more US military deployments.
The Chinese embassy in Canberra has in turn accused the Australian government of “sliding further down on the road of harming China-Australia relations” and of lacking independence from the US.
