Back in January, US president Donald Trump threatened to impose <a href=\"https:\/\/www.theguardian.com\/business\/2025\/jan\/22\/trump-tariff-china-eu-levy-yuan-stocks\">a tariff of 10%<\/a> on Chinese imports. Less than three months later, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.theguardian.com\/us-news\/2025\/apr\/08\/trump-global-tariffs\">the rate is now 104%<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>China has condemned the tariffs.
