His company \u2013 the producer of most of the world\u2019s most advanced semiconductors \u2013 <a href=\"https:\/\/www.theguardian.com\/business\/2025\/mar\/04\/taiwan-trump-semiconductor-deal-tsmc\">would boost its existing $65bn US presence by a whopping $100bn<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>For TSMC the deal meant they would avoid massive tariffs Trump had flagged for the global chip industry.
