The chamber has 300 MPs, but members of the ruling People Power party (PPP) boycotted Friday\u2019s vote.<\/p>\n<p>Han took over as president after his predecessor, Yoon Suk Yeol, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.theguardian.com\/world\/2024\/dec\/14\/south-korean-parliament-votes-to-impeach-president\">was impeached<\/a> over his <a href=\"https:\/\/www.theguardian.com\/world\/2024\/dec\/03\/south-korean-president-declares-emergency-martial-law\">short-lived imposition of martial law<\/a> on 3 December.
