The US embassy, followed up by Sri Lankan police and Israel\u2019s national security council, warned of a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.theguardian.com\/world\/2024\/oct\/23\/israelis-told-to-urgently-leave-sri-lankan-tourist-areas-arugam-bay-after-terrorist-threat\">serious terrorist threat in the area<\/a>. Israeli travellers were believed to be the intended target of a planned attack and were told to evacuate immediately.
