The 58-year-old left the busyness of Fiji\u2019s capital Suva for the island of about 400 people, who live off the land they are deeply connected to. But some changes she noticed were stark.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWhen I left the island, a good part of the beach was there,\u201d Lisati says. \u201cBut when I came back after<strong> <\/strong>40 years \u2026 around six metres or more had been washed away.\u201d<\/p>\n<p><strong>Above:<\/strong> Kioa island, Fiji, at sunrise.<br \/><strong>Below:<\/strong> A resident of Kioa strips the thorny edges from the fronds of pandanus palms.
