His predecessor, Qin Gang, was abruptly removed with no explanation on Tuesday after just seven tumultuous months in the job.<\/p>\n<p>The decision provided some closure to the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.theguardian.com\/world\/2023\/jul\/26\/rumours-swirl-over-dramatic-fall-of-xi-loyalist-qin-gang-china\">weeks of speculation<\/a> about Qin\u2019s absence.
