The LGBTQ+ couple have a \u201cpartnership certificate\u201d issued by their ward office in Tokyo, but it comes with none of the legal guarantees afforded married heterosexual couples \u2013 including the right to visit a spouse in hospital.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe might be able to get special permission, but we shouldn\u2019t have to rely on other people\u2019s goodwill \u2026 it\u2019s not right,\u201d Kousaka told the <em>Observer<\/em>.
