It\u2019s meant to be a last resort to stop people from hurting themselves or others, but the practice can itself be traumatising. One woman, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.hqsc.govt.nz\/our-programmes\/mental-health-and-addiction-quality-improvement\/publications-and-resources\/publication\/4171\/\">recalling her seclusion experience<\/a>, describes how \u2013 even now \u2013 she doesn\u2019t like the sound of keys being rattled.
