Some waved the Chinese flag while others set off fireworks. In <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/EQ392766\/status\/1288287105525919747\">one video,<\/a> a woman said she was \u201cextremely happy\u201d to see <a href=\"https:\/\/www.theguardian.com\/world\/2020\/jul\/27\/crowds-wave-chinese-flags-and-take-selfies-as-us-consulate-closes-in-chengdu\">the consulate close<\/a>. \u201cWe have kicked out one more hub for spies!\u201d she said, smiling as she pointed at the building.<\/p>\n<p>In another video, widely circulated on Chinese social media, a CNN reporter attempting to broadcast is drowned out by a group belting out a patriotic Chinese song.
