Just as many Australian farmers had mostly finished sowing, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.theguardian.com\/australia-news\/2020\/may\/19\/australia-deeply-disappointed-after-china-imposes-80-tariff-on-barley-imports\">Beijing\u2019s 80% tariff imposed<\/a> on our second biggest crop \u2013 barley \u2013 hit like a tonne of bricks.<\/p>\n<p>All the industry players acknowledge this was a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.themandarin.com.au\/133873-china-used-anti-dumping-rules-against-us-because-what-goes-around-comes-around\/\">long running dispute<\/a> that began two years ago.
