Marise Payne repeats calls for China to end arbitrary detention after internal documents reveal Xi Jinping\u2019s call to \u2018show no mercy\u2019 in Xinjiang<\/p>\n

Australia\u2019s foreign affairs minister has labelled new details of China\u2019s mass internment of Uighurs \u201cdisturbing\u201d and reiterated demands for China to end arbitrary detention.<\/p>\n

Marise Payne made the statement in response to internal Chinese government documents showing its mass detention of Uighurs and other minorities in Xinjiang came from directives by Xi Jinping to \u201cshow absolutely no mercy\u201d in the \u201cstruggle against terrorism, infiltration and separatism\u201d.<\/p>\n
